Hi all...just a reminder to go back over the chapter responses to read what others have said and give them feedback and share ideas ...I also will interject ideas every once in a while that might pertain to something you have said or give you ideas...I have a great many materials that might enhance your teaching using multiple intelligences...things such as inventories, ways to implement them in your classroom/school, and so much more...It's an area of emphasis that I feel very strongly about...Anyway if you are interested let me know and I will ship them to you...Barney

Hi Betty...I don't know what happened to your blog!...but glad you found it...You have made some astute reflections related to this chapter and I wholeheartedly agree that we cannot assume that kids are where we are because of our life experiences and their lack thereof...I learned the hard way that when introducing a new idea or curriculum the teachers need to have instruction on the why, what etc...and then have them gradually implement with strong administrative support...According to Eric Jensen the renowned brain educator, there are 6 ingredients to all learning and these need to be in every lesson if we expect kids to learn what we are asking them to learn...they are choice, relavency, interest, emotion, physical activity and reflection...Notice that choice is first...If you ever get a chance to read something by him or go to a workshop he puts on, by all means do it...I attended two of his workshops (6 days and 1 day) and he walks the talk...he really does model a brain compatible classroom ...Thanks again for your insights...By the way I would like to call each of you sometime in the next few weeks and where and at what time would it be convenient?...Barney

Hi Jeanette...Sorry I haven't gotten back to you but I have some information that I will send you after Christmas about infusing MI into your content area ...I think it allows kids to be successful and really allows you to assess whether they know what you want them to know...Naturally they have to bolster their weaker intelligences but that can come when they gain confidence in their abilities...especially in Kindergarten...A great book that you might want to look at is Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom" by Thomas Armstrong...He gives all kinds of ideas on how to inmplement MI at all levels...I'm excited that you are trying some of these ideas from the book and they are working...I'll send you some infor after the holidays...Keep up the good work...Barney
